Body and mind share an inseparable relationship, both are interconnected and interdependent. If you want to be mentally stable, you need to be physically healthy too. Mental well-being is dependent on the physical state. If a person is suffering with any physical ailment, his mental state will also suffer. Diseases and suffering lead to excessive stress and anxiety.

If someone have to stay mentally balanced, it is necessary to maintain physical well-being. Present day lifestyle is too engrossing and exhausting.  Current lifestyle makes it nearly impossible to focus on our own health concerns. Our lives have converted us into money-making machines leaving no time for physical health and mental well-being. So it becomes pertinent for every individual to strike a balance between physical and mental stability. We must understand the need of Mental and Physical Well-being.

Tips for striking balance between mental and physical well-being

There are some factors that can help in improving our sleep and contributing to our mental wellbeing. As mind and body are connected,  these factors play a pivotal role to maintain and improve both.

Exercise: Well! Many people are under misconception that exercise is required once you grow old or by the ones who are suffering from obesity or any diseases. Exercise is not meant for hale and hearty people. This is the biggest myth ever. Exercise helps to strengthen muscles; it improves cognition, thinking ability, decision making ability and much more. It contributes in improving all bodily functions. It reduces the risk of heart diseases, heart failure, gives strength to the brain, thus its crucial for physical as well as mental health.

Proper Sleep: The recent researches done in the area of mental disorders and health issues prove that the poor sleep habits have a pivotal role to play in increasing mental disorders. It reduces the level of stress and anxiety. Proper sleep is required for all the body organs to function properly. An adequate level of sleep helps in improving mental ability, reasoning power, memory, improves digestion and helps in recovery from ailments. It rejuvenates mind and body.

Social relationships: In past, people used to live in joint families, so had strong family ties. They used to share healthy social relationships but with urbanization, the trend of nuclear families rose. Healthy relationships work as a support system which helps to keep your mind free from stress and anxiety. Family gatherings work as a source of entertainment. It definitely impacts physical and mental health for the better. We must understand the need of Mental and Physical Well-being.

Nutrition: Human body needs adequate nutrition, it is like any other machine which requires fuel to work. The quality of life you will have depends on the quality of food intake. If you are taking nutritious meals you will certainly have a better quality of life, however if you are taking junk food it will certainly impair other body functions and hinders the growth and the development of the body.

Stress management techniques: It has been seen that stress these days is the outcome of poor relationships, imbalance at work, or because of severe health issues. procrastination is also a major problem that has resulted in the stress. So to manage stress it is better to sit , introspect, give time and solve the problem rather than delaying it.

Be realistic: Out of pressure, we end up setting up unmanageable and unrealistic goals, which further give birth to an inferiority complex and anxiety. Thus, it is always good to set realistic and manageable goals. One should know how to seta practically applicable goals.

To sum up, the above-mentioned factors plays a pivotal role in deciding good and balanced physical and mental health. Both the factors are as important as the two wheels of a bicycle. If one Tyer falls flat the other wheel will not be able to balance properly. Similarly, it becomes a significant and conscious responsibility of an individual to try to balance health that is physical and mental. Both cannot exist independently.
